DSA ATTENDS THE GRAND OPENING CEREMONY OF TAKUNDA DEAF ART SCHOOL

On 9 April 2026, a group of DSA members, led by President Mirjana Grujić, had the privilege of attending the Grand Opening Ceremony of Takunda Deaf Art School—one of our most important and impactful charity projects this year.
We were proud to take part in this special occasion alongside government representatives, local and education officials, teachers, devoted parents, community leaders, and, most importantly, the learners—the children.
This official opening ceremony was far more than the inauguration of a school building. It marked the opening of doors to opportunity, creativity, inclusion, and empowerment. It also served as a powerful reminder that every child has immense potential that deserves to be supported, nurtured, and given space to grow, regardless of their circumstances.
Takunda Deaf Art School is a safe and inspiring environment where learners can develop through art and visual communication. Here, silence is not seen as a limitation, but as a strength that fosters creativity and expression. The school stands as a testament to inclusive education—one that responds to the needs of every learner with care, patience, compassion, and understanding. It is a place where barriers are replaced with opportunity, support, and creativity.
Special recognition goes to the teachers for their dedication, patience, and compassion. Their commitment extends far beyond the classroom—they guide, encourage, and support each learner, helping every child build confidence and realize their potential.
We also extend our deep appreciation to the parents for their courage, trust, and unwavering belief in their children. By embracing this journey, they play a vital role in shaping a brighter future.
Above all, we celebrate the children themselves. Their curiosity, determination, and eagerness to learn are a true inspiration. They remind us that, with the right support, every child can grow, succeed, and shine in their own unique way.
The Diplomatic Spouses Association (DSA) is honoured to support a project that promotes inclusion, creativity, and equal learning opportunities for all children. In addition to leading this initiative, DSA has brought together partners and sponsors to further support the school. On this occasion, we were pleased to donate play mats, generously provided by Mr. Gerry Lockflor of Roberts Construction, as well as a basketball from the DSA.
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this vision a reality—our donors, partners, sponsors, teachers, community members, and families. Together, we have not only built a school, but also created hope and new opportunities for many children.
We wish the school, its teachers, parents, and learners every success in the years ahead, and trust that it will continue to grow as a place of hope, inspiration, and excellence.
