One of the most important DSA projects in this year has been finished successfully with the official handover and opening of the Family Support Room at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital on 15 May. DSA Team, Hospital Management and Staff, and Distinguished Guests, together marked an important and meaningful moment, not only for the Hospital itself, but also for the many families who will benefit from this space today and in the years ahead.
The Diplomatic Spouses Association, following its main commitments – to support community well-being, recognised immediately the importance of the project aimed to create the dedicated space where families of critically ill children could find comfort and support when experience fear, uncertainty, and emotional strain.
To strengthen them during these challenging times, a Family Support Room has been designed to provide comfort for the parents and loved ones. This achievement was made possible through collaboration and shared commitment between the DSA and the Hospital paediatric team leading by Dr Lana Austin, as well as our partners, Chiro Public Accountants and Auditors and Sofas CEO, Mr. Sidney Chirombo.
The handover of Family Support Room highlights the importance of partnership, compassion, and community service, reminding us that healthcare is not only about treating illness but also about caring for people with empathy and humanity. It is our sincere hope that this Family Support Room will provide comfort, strength, hope and reassurance to many families during difficult times, and that it will stand as a symbol of care and solidarity.
