TAKUNDA DEAF SCHOOL – GRADUATION AND PRIZE-GIVING DAY

On Thursday, December 4th, the Diplomatic Spouses Association in Zimbabwe had the honor and privilege of attending the Takunda Deaf Art School graduation ceremony.
The students were prepared to receive the certificates and awards they earned through their dedication and hard work, and they were equally ready to present performances in the form of songs, recitations, and an educational drama sketch. The entire event was filled with emotions shared by everyone present – ranging from joy and surprise to admiration. The ease with which these children have overcome their challenges and achieved outstanding results deserves profound respect.
On that day, students from Grades 1 to 6 received their diplomas along with medals, as well as awards in the categories of Smart, Punctuality, Most Improved, Best in Mathematics, Sports, and Sociable.
As a guest of honor, the DSA had the privilege of participating in the awarding of diplomas and prizes. A message of support from the DSA President, Mirjana Grujic, as well as a song performed in sign language by the DSA Deputy Treasurer, Whitney Rae, further emphasized the message that disability is not inability.
The DSA is proud to support this school by donating school furniture and books that will help these children acquire knowledge and skills more easily and effectively. We started with two classrooms and are continuing with two more in the same way.
